Meg Terry, AIA

Meg Terry, a Sanford, North Carolina native, graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. She has been with DP3 Architects since 2004 and currently maintains roles as Principal, Vice President of Business Development, and Interiors Studio Leader. She has a broad range of experience in interior planning, designing, finishing, and furnishing on college and university campuses, restaurants, healthcare, and office facilities. Meg is active in multiple community organizations including Rotary, AIA Greenville, Upstate Women in Architecture, Greenville Chamber of Commerce – Leadership Greenville Program, and Junior League of Greenville. In addition, she is on the City of Greenville Planning Commission, and a graduate of Leadership Greenville, Class 42.
Gene Bell, AIA
Secretary/Treasurer

As one of eight children and a father of three, Gene enjoys working with and mentoring others. Gene has been responsible for a variety of AIA SC award-winning projects at Watson Tate Savory, including the USC Hollings Special Collections Addition, Midlands Technical College’s Harbison Theater, the Technical College of the Lowcountry’s New River Multi-purpose Building, and the City of Columbia’s Water & Wastewater Division complex. He serves as mentor and coordinator for Watson Tate Savory’s internship development program. He is very active with the US Green Building Council, serving on the Midlands Steering Committee. He also currently serves on Columbia City Council’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) and was on the committee to develop Columbia’s first Bicycle and Pedestrian Masterplan. Gene is past president of the Columbia Design League, and currently serves as Treasurer. In his role on the Columbia Design League, Gene coordinated with AIA Greater Columbia on several joint AIAGC/ CDL events. Gene has served on two AIA SC Conference Committees in 2010 and 2011. In his spare time, Gene enjoys woodworking, is a BSA Architecture Merit Badge Counselor and a Cub Scout Den Leader. He also coaches his son’s soccer team.
Jonathan Garvin, AIA
Upstate Director
2019–2021
Jonathan has nearly 20 years of experience practicing architecture and has designed a wide range of projects for a variety of commercial, corporate, campus, industrial and residential clients. He has a passion for health and fitness as well as a commitment to help protect the natural environment, and believes the built world has a place in helping to improve the lives of everyone. Jonathan began AIA service at the local level in 2005 and is the current President of AIA Greenville. His professional service includes past committee involvement with USGBC SC. Jonathan is active in multiple community organizations including a board position with GHS YMCA and as advisory council member for Rebuild Upstate. In time away from the architecture profession, he is an avid bread baker and homebrewer, who also strives for several long distance runs (and training), as a way to combat the associated carb loading.
Robyn Rogers, AIA
Midlands Director
Second Term 2019–2021
Robyn is a 2006 graduate of Clemson University where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Architecture and a 2010 graduate of North Carolina State University where she received her Masters of Architecture. She is licensed as an Architect in South Carolina and is a LEED Green Associate. Robyn has served on the AIA Greater Columbia Chapter’s board of directors for the past five years and she is currently serving as the AIAGC’s President for 2015.
Steve Carter, AIA
Lowcountry Director
Second Term 2019–2021
Mr. Carter has served the profession in many ways including the various officer positions of AIA. He was President of the Dayton Chapter of AIA in 1982, served on the AIA Ohio Board and was in charge of the AIA Honor Awards Program at the State Convention in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a past President of the Hilton Head Island American Institute of Architects. He resides and practices on Hilton Head Island, SC. His practice is focused on design/master planning consultation on a wide variety of project types.
Stephen J. Carter, AIA, NCARB, LF’82, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received degrees from the University of Cincinnati DAAP and Harvard University Graduate School of Design where he was Loeb Fellow in 1981, 82.
Mr. Carter taught and/or lectured in the Architectural programs at Ohio State University, The University of Cincinnati, Harvard and Miami University of Ohio where he was a Graduate design studio head for 19 years. His teaching experience accrued while he practiced full-time at Lorenz and Williams Incorporated (LWI) in Dayton, Ohio. (As a Partner since 1982 and CEO/Chairman of the Board from 1999 to 2005 and now, Partner Emeritus).
He has worked on projects as the LWI team member in association with other notable architects including; Charles Moore, Michael Graves, Peter Eisenman Thom Mayne and James Freed. These associations provided an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of philosophical design approaches enriching his practice and teaching. He has designed a wide range of project types including; Corporate Headquarters, Restoration & Adaptive reuse, Libraries, Medical Centers, Public Spaces and Civic Centers, Cultural Facilities, Education, K-12 and Universities.
