The home is made of two separate structures. The rear 1938 brick garage used to be part of the DuPont Mansion that faced King Street. The front portion of the building was designed in 1974 by W.G. Clark. The owners wanted the interior to have an open plan with a large Kitchen. The only way to get the large Kitchen was to remove the existing stairway in the center of the 1974 addition. An existing beam was supporting the 1974 second floor and needed support.
