The Dream Center

Located near the Savannah River, Calhoun Falls is within a rural area in Abbeville, South Carolina. It was once a booming textile town, but once the mills closed, the town began facing a rapid decline in both the downtown and surrounding areas.

The Dream Center
INTRODUCTION

Now, the town is on the brink of failure and is in dire need of a spark to reignite its economy and downtown area. The Dream Center is the first step to helping Calhoun Falls flourish again, which raises an important question. How can a flexible program supported by community engagement and sustainable practices spark growth and development in Calhoun Falls? We answered this question by breaking up our project into four phases. Phase one The building is not historical in any way and has severely deteriorated. Instead of attempting to restore it, we carefully demolish the existing building and store the masonry for later use.
