AIASC CE/HSW Webinar: Biophilic Design’s Impact: The Research, Design, and Assessment
April 22 @ 12:00 pm–1:00 pm

As a practitioner, you understand the power and impact of design, but findings from a recent study show an impact even greater than you might have imagined.
This session will review an AIA Upjohn grant-funded study that associates biophilic design with reduced student stress and improved learning. You’ll see how the team applied a process of research, design, and assessment to create innovative spaces that inspire awe, encourage mental health, and cultivate learning.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze the palette of biophilic design strategies and identify those that can advance the goals of your own projects.
- Learn to transform strategies into design creating spaces that inspire mental health, better cognition, and happier occupants.
- See how you can apply the tools to assess and refine projects in your own practice.
- Gain the knowledge to speak to clients about the connection between good design and improved student performance, better teacher retention, lower absenteeism, reduction of bullying, better learning outcomes, and lower operation costs.
