Task

Delta Pharmacy reflects historic Charleston vernacular through contemporary materials and forms. The prominent site at the corner of East Bay and Calhoun Streets was once home to the “Three Sisters”: a collection of Charleston Single Houses, one with an iconic corner store. Unfortunately, these architectural treasures were demolished by 1964, leaving the lot vacant. The design of this new building pays homage to the scale and style of the historic structure, using modern materials to distinguish the past from the present. Delta Pharmacy now stands as a centerpiece at this busy downtown intersection.
