Task

Sri Lankan Architect Geoffrey Bawa once said that in his country the ideal house is an “umbrella which protects the dweller from both sun and rain. This is a distillation of an idea to its simplest expression, and a house in the islands of South Carolina with its hot humid climate does well to observe this simple dictum. The client and design team gave form around this idea, by designing a home with deep porches and large openings. The team made careful decisions to block the harsh sun and bring in the cool ocean breeze and sound of the waves.
